About Casas Particulares

“Casas Particulares” are Cuban style Bed & Breakfasts. In most cases you can rent one or more rooms in a house; in other cases you may be able to rent the whole house or apartment. Homes authorized to rent to foreign nationals have a blue logo on the door. The owners of these houses have to pay a monthly tribute to the state, which varies between 150 and 250 CUC depending on the location, size and features of the house. They also pay annual income tax. Therefore, we request that if you change your mind when booking a home, please let us know so that the owners do not lose other customers.

Cuba is a very unusual country in many respects. The best way to experience the true feeling of Cuba and its people, and gain a thorough knowledge of Cuban society, is to establish a close interaction with the Cuban people. This is best accomplished by staying in private houses. It is also much cheaper to stay in a private home than in a hotel, and you will have the same facilities, air conditioning, hot and cold water, and a comfortable bed. Do not hesitate to ask your landlord to help with any information; they are knowledgeable about the city and can best guide you.
