Two currencies circulate in Cuba the Cuban convertible peso or CUC and CUP Cuban Peso or which is the old national currency (MN). The convertible peso can be bought and sold only in Cuba.

The following currencies are exchanged at the market price (with respect to the U.S. dollar rate plus 8%), Euros, Canadian dollars, Swiss francs, Pounds, Mexican Pesos. Also changing U.S. dollars but the change is 0.8935 and is taxed at 10% so that you will receive 100 USD 80.45 CUC.

Most of the cost you CUC will therefore not change more than 10-20 CUC Cuban pesos (1 CUC = 24 MN). Only make changes to the official sites (CADECA) or banks, to avoid being cheated.

ATMs are relatively easy to find in Havana and Santiago de Cuba, but not in other cities. However due the Embargo credit card issued in the United States operates in Cuba.
